A programme of member engagement activities that increases access to learning and development opportunities and improves peer-to-peer learning.

Our membership engagement programme is made up of a series of accessible, online sessions that support evidence-informed practice and build active use of Research in Practice resources.

Practice Pointers

Designed for staff of all levels across health and social care. These sessions summarise key concepts of a core topic, highlighting insights from relevant Research in Practice publications and resources.

Practice Pointers

  • Learn key messages on the topic.
  • Reflect on implementing these in practice.
  • Consider how Research in Practice resources can be used to further engage with the topic.

Practice Pointers take place 12:00-13:00 on the first Wednesday of the month.

How to use Research in Practice sessions

Aimed at anyone new to Research in Practice, or those wanting a refresher, attendees will:

  • Learn how to set up a Research in Practice account.
  • Discover what is available on the Research in Practice website.
  • See how to create and update an online CPD record. 
  • Reflect on how to use the resources in day-to-day practice.

How to use Research in Practice sessions take place 12:00-13:00 on the last Wednesday of the month. 

Engagement Support sessions

Aimed at Link Officers, Strategic Champions, Principal Social Workers, and Principal Occupational Therapists, attendees will:

  • Consider ways to build their organisation’s engagement with Research in Practice.
  • Receive guidance on (for example) sharing resources across your organisation, using the data dashboard, booking learning activities and more.
  • Share examples and tips for successful engagement. 
  • Access Partner Engagement Team support and have a chance to explore specific queries. 

Engagement Support sessions take place 14:00-15:00 on the last Wednesday of the month. 

Growing Engagement sessions

New for 2026-27. Aimed at Link Officers, Strategic Champions, Principal Social Workers, and Principal Occupational Therapists and other colleagues with a practice development role. With a different focus each month, attendees will:

  • Consider ways to build your organisation’s engagement with Research in Practice. 
  • Receive guidance on (for example) sharing resources across your organisation, using the Link Officer dashboard, booking your online menu workshop, promoting learning activities and more. 
  • Share examples and tips for successful engagement with others in similar roles. 
  • Access Partner Engagement Team support and have a chance to explore specific queries. 

Starting April 2026, Growing Engagement sessions take place 14:00-15:00 on the last Wednesday of the month.
